May's School Calendar

St. Francis of Assisi Day - On this day, parents and students are
invited to bring a stuffed or live pet to school. Father Burt
Froehlich blesses the pet and the pet is taken home.

Parent/Teacher Montessori Workshop - Held in the fall, this workshop provides an opportunity for teachers to describe Montessori lessons and parents to act as students . The intent is to further parents' understanding of the Montessori method.

Parent Dinner - A festive occasion, this dinner is arranged by parent volunteers and enables parents to get to know one another.

Parent Focus Group - All parents are invited to attend Parent Focus Group meetings, which are held quarterly. The group provides a communication link between parents, administrators, faculty and students. It enables parents to work together on projects that advance the quality of education at St. Christopher's.

Thanksgiving Luncheon - This luncheon is for parents and students. It provides a lesson in grace and courtesy for the lower and upper Elementary classrooms because the children act as hosts and hostesses.

St. Nicholas Day - On this day each child brings an ornament for his or her classroom Christmas tree. Parents attend school for the morning and students demonstrate how lessons are presented and used.

Parent Observations - Beginning in November, parents are encouraged to schedule appointments to observe the work their child is doing in the classroom.

International Day - During March, each class studies a different continent. At the end of the month, students showcase arts and crafts and dress up in traditional costumes. Parents bring cooked dishes pertinent to the continent their child has studied.

Art Show - This event enables parents to enjoy creative artwork their children have prepared during the year.

Book Fair - Held in conjunction with the Art Show, the Scholastic Book Fair enables parents to learn about high-quality books and encourages summer reading.

Graduation - During the last chapel service of the year, Kindergarten students receive diplomas and parents coordinate with teachers to do something special in the classroom.

Class Parties - Parents sign up in the fall to participate in classroom parties that take place during various holidays throughout the year.
