We are the sowers – our children are those who reap.  We labor so that future generations will be better and nobler than we are.  Maria Montessori

Dear Families:

Can you believe we are ready to begin the enrollment process for the 2017-2018 school year? This year has been flying by. We pray you and your family are enjoying the current school year.

On behalf of all of us at St. Christopher Episcopal Montessori School, we would like to thank you for partnering with us in the education of your child and look forward to continuing our partnership during the upcoming school year.

Each year, we strive to provide a nurturing environment where our students can thrive academically, emotionally, socially and physically and most importantly spiritually.  Looking to the future, we continue to invest and stay focused on our goal of educating and equipping young people to become life changers. We strive to offer an excellent curriculum with a concentration on the important role scope and sequence plays, the best in fine arts activities and cutting edge technology.  As we press forward in these endeavors, we are committed to remaining good stewards of all God’s blessings.

As the cost of providing an excellent education continues to rise, we face the challenges of funding our needs while remaining affordable. To make the progress that we believe will best serve your child, tuition will be increase seven percent. We understand that making the sacrifice to pay tuition can be a challenging one and we want to assure you that the rewards for your investment in your child’s education far exceed the sacrifice.

FCIS Accreditation Update.  I am delighted to share that just last week, we received confirmation of our five-year accreditation by FCIS (the Florida Council of Independent Schools).  The members of FCIS’ team who visited last spring commended St. Christopher’s for our hospitality and gracious welcome, the meticulousness of the self-study as well as expressing appreciation for our “beautiful campus.”  In the letter we received last week, FCIS’ Director, Barbara Hodges stated, “the FCIS and FKC Accreditation Commission and Boards of Directors praise you and your staff for St. Christopher’s progress.  St. Christopher’s commitment to continual school improvement is admirable.”

What’s new this year.  To better communicate with you and to keep you even more informed about your child’s academic progress, we will be using the St. Chris Virtual Net, powered by Blackbaud. This type of student information systems is widely used by private schools nationwide, including many of our feeder schools. The St. Chris Virtual Net will allow parents and students to enroll and keep track of their scholastic career at St. Christopher’s from commencement to graduation, as well as many other features (i.e., student news, easier access to faculty and administration, bulletin boards, calendars, forms and events, etc).

Smart Tuition. As of January 2017, St. Christopher’s has signed on with Smart Tuition, which will provide  parents many options to pay through an easy to access online payment portal and which will be directly linked to their St. Chris Net. One place to visit, the St. Chris Virtual Net (going LIVE in February 2017) will provide a much better overall experience for student and parent access.

Strategic Plan. The new three-to-five-year Strategic Plan was completed in December 2016 and addresses priority areas including: Enrollment Management, Finance, Fundraising and Development, Campus Plant & Facilities and Faculty. As we embark on the next phase in the life of St. Christopher’s, we are very excited about implementing a plan that will carry us to the next level of academic excellence.

Toddler Program: Our Toddler Class is thriving with Ms. Connie and Ms. Natalie. It has more than doubled (from 7 to 15) in student size this year and the parents are thrilled with the progress their children are making. Frequently, Reverend Susan or Ms. Leslie is asked, “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if St. Christopher’s went through 8th grade?”

The Bilingual Program: In 2016, we opened our first-ever Bilingual classroom. All areas of the Montessori Curriculum are presented in both English and Spanish in the Preschool by Ms. Debbie and Ms. Blanca. The children explore all subject areas in both languages through the guidance of their teachers.

Building expansion update. The Vestry and the School Board are dedicated to ensuring that permanent space is provided for the Upper Elementary and that the Administrative Offices are returned to the main campus. The Strategic Plan addresses this need and lays out a series of steps to accomplish this goal. To that end, we are actively pursuing the best way to move forward with a building expansion plan. We are hoping to have another update by the Spring Gala.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to partner with you to educate your children in the rich academic tradition that is Montessori as well as to guide them in their spiritual growth so that they can continue to develop in faith.  We encourage you to spread the word in our community of how God is working through the lives of our faith community to provide this superior education.

Keeping the Faith,

Reverend Susan+ and Ms. Leslie
