Adult
Education
SAVE
WEDNESDAY EVENING FOR ST. CHRISTOPHER’S!
Under the leadership
of Dean Holderman, Von Beebe and Gloria Johnson, an exciting new
Adult Education program is under way for the 2006-2007 Church Year.
As is characteristic of our parish, there will be ample food and
fellowship to leaven the adult learning experience.
The program
consists of several Wednesday evening series of studies. The topic
“When Bad Things Happen to Good People” by Rabbi Harold
S. Kushner was a resounding success, and anyone who has not read
this book may wish to do so even if they missed the series.
Series
II: Parables
Nov. 29 through Dec. 13. This series is based short movies depicting
the parables of Christ translated to modern times. Each evening
we will view and discuss a different thought-provoking parable.
Fellowship begins at 5:30 PM in the Parish Hall, followed by videos
and discussion, ending at 7:30 PM.
Series
III:
January 24 through February 21: Instructed Eucharist and Church
History. This will be ideal for adults wishing to be confirmed in
the Episcopal Church and as a refresher for those whose Confirmation
studies are in the distant past! It will be especially helpful for
anyone considering joining in a worship ministry, such as chalice
bearer, eucharistic minister or acolyte trainer.
Sunday
School
Sunday
School is from 10 AM to 10:35 AM, after which the children process
into the church, joining their parents for Holy Communion. Parents
with children in Sunday School may wish to arrive a few minutes
early to get their children settled in time to find their own
pews by 10 AM.
Sunday
School is for Pre-K through 5th Grade. These classes meet in the
Parish hall and school classrooms.
The
curriculum follows the Church Lectionary of readings used in regular
services, so that the parents and yong people will be focused
on the same lessons and provide a basis for conversation between
child and parents throughout the week. In addition to this curriculum,
each Sunday School class will also learn some common prayers as
well as basic history and traditions of the church.
REGISTRATION:
To pre-register your child in St. Christopher's by-the-Sea Sunday
School, please provide the name(s) and address of the parent(s),
with phone number, and the student's name, age and grade level.
This information may be emailed to: administrator@stchriskb.org;
or phoned in to the church office (306-361-5080) or written down
and dropped into the Collection Plate any Sunday. Pre-registration
is greatly appreciated to assist Beth Ward and her team of Sunday
School teachers in organizing the classes.
